I have REALLY struggled with this collage, it left me feeling really uninspired. The layer before mine was supposed to be the background but instead it made what I felt was quite a powerful statement about what the theme of the collage was. This got me worrying that maybe my ‘cityscape’ had posed the same problems for the person I had sent it to. Anyway, can’t do much about that now.
art by Stacie and Annette
So, the uninspiring collage has sat on my desk for ages when I finished all my other art committments, and that sat there a bit longer while I wondered what to do with it.

Eventually the image of a mermaid landed in my brain, while watching CSI, of all things - don’t ask! So I started hunting for images of mermaids on the web and finally decided on John Waterhouse’s Mermaid, which, with a little resizing amd mirror-imaging was perfect. Adding a little tissue paper here, a little Stewart Gill’s Galactica in Iced Sky there, and some PVA-type stuff all over, and VOILA!
I was suitably pleased with the results
that is, until I looked at the pictures other people have uploaded for their 3rd layers, and I suddenly feel like maybe I have done too much
Once I got started, I tried to remember everything we’ve been told about composition; shape, size, movement etc. and perhaps I got carried away and ended up ‘completing’ the collage, which was certainly not my intention. I hope it is recieved as what I intended it to be, just another layer, to be added to, collaged over, and whatever else the muse inspires.

Here’s a little something I did while playing around with brushes in PE, I thought it looked a little fun.

Not being much of a scrapbooker, in fact not being into scrapbooking at all, I tend to steer clear of scrapbook papers but as soon as saw Basic Grey’s Mortifica and Sublime & Confused ranges I was hooked, since then I have restricted myself to only purchasing the Fusion range. I love ‘em and they seem to have had the same effect on most people I know. Until recently I just kept them in a box and took them out occasionally to stroke, drool over (metaphorically speaking of course, as too much moisture isn’t too kind to paper products) and I can sometimes be heard mumbling something along the lines of “my precioussss”, fortunately I am not alone in my infatuation. Crikey if someone who has not been ‘initiated’ into the ‘inner sanctum’ were to read this they might be forgiven for thinking I was a tad odd!
Anyhoooo, I digress. As several people on my Yahoo group seemed able to relate to my absurd tendancies with regard to my stash of BG I decided it was about time we had a BG ATC swap. As difficult as it was to cut into my papers, my four efforts are what follows.

I really enjoyed this swap, and as stupid as this may sound, I am so used to making my own backgrounds and sploshing paint everywhere, that it came as somewhat of a revelation to realise how easy it is to make an ATC (or anything for that matter!) when someone else has done the work for you! How bizarre is that? I’m not really a cretin, honest>

What is wrong with people!?
I am SO cross with ‘E’, I have emailed her, a message has been left on her home phone and I’ve even resorted to leaving a message on the group but she has still not contacted me! She does this again and again and she’s pi!@$ng me right off! She hasn’t posted to the group since April 1st, various things are outstanding and her lack of respect for group members is holding up all the swaps.
I really don’t understand why people must be so ignorant and selfish. It doesn’t take much to send an email or make a phone call does it?
