Claudine, Claudine, Claudine, Claudine!

August 27th, 2005

Don’t we all know a song with a similarly catchy title? ;) I have been absent a loooooong time. Lack of inspiration, fatigue and general bad-health have been dogging me this last month or more but hopefully I have a new spring in my step :)
3 long-awaited purchases have recently arrived in my sweaty clutches and I have been reading and watching and learning from Claudine Hellmuth. I ordered these so long ago I all-but forgot about them! Firstly, I got Claudine’s new book, which did actually cause me to pause and think. It wasn’t what I expected, and perhaps my disappointment was more about my own expectations on the heels of the wonderful Collage Discovery Workshop. Right now I’m having trouble articulating exactly what I found disappointing so I’ll hold-fire from ranting about it jut yet.
I ALSO got Claudine’s 2 DVDs. The first one I found useful because it was good to re-vist a couple of techniques that were covered in the first book, BUT seeing how it is supposed to be done was excellent! I did really enjoy the 1st DVD. I wish I could say the same about the 2nd DVD. I feel a bit robbed here because firstly the actual film of Claudine’s ‘workshop’ was so short, and there was a lengthy interview which felt a bit like ‘filler’ for the most part. Also, there wasn’t a whole heap of new stuff on this DVD and only one project which used some of the techhniques covered in the first DVD and one new one on this DVD. I felt strangely unsatisfied after watching it :( Ah well, I’m sure that by continuing to read and watch, I will pick lots up and learn more that I initially realise.
